About Us.

THE JOB DOESN’T END WHEN THE SIRENS STOP.

Beyond The Sirens was built around a simple belief:

First responders deserve support for the human being behind the uniform.

The calls, the long shifts, the things you see, the decisions you make, and the things you carry home can change you.

Too often, we're taught how to handle the job—but not what to do with everything the job leaves behind.

Beyond The Sirens exists to change that.

We provide mental health education, resources, advocacy, community, and conversations designed specifically with first responders and their families in mind.

We don't believe in waiting until someone reaches a breaking point to start talking about mental health.

We believe in starting the conversation before then.

THE STORY BEHIND THE MISSION

TYLER MCKINZEY

(Professionally known as) FLIGHT MEDIC BERRY

Beyond The Sirens was founded by Tyler McKinzey, a flight paramedic, first responder, speaker, author, and advocate who knows firsthand what it means to carry the job long after the call ends.

Through Flight Medic Berry, Tyler has turned his experiences into a platform for challenging the silence surrounding first responder mental health and creating space for conversations that are often avoided.

What began as his own story became a larger conversation—and eventually became his book, My IFR Condition.

Today, Tyler speaks, writes, educates, and advocates for a different approach to first responder wellness: one that recognizes the person behind the uniform and doesn't wait for someone to be struggling beyond their limits before offering support.

The mission started with one story. It's bigger than one person now.
