NAMI South Carolina 2026 Conference

On September 3, 2026, Flight Medic Berry will take the stage as a plenary speaker at the NAMI South Carolina Mental Health Conference at the Richland 2 Institute of Innovation (R2i2).

This conference brings together professionals, advocates, educators, and community leaders working to improve mental health awareness, support, and systems of care across South Carolina. Flight Medic Berry’s participation brings a critical perspective to that conversation: the lived reality of mental health in the first responder community.

Flight Medic Berry, Founder & CEO of Beyond The Sirens, will be speaking at the North Carolina EMS Expo on navigating life‑altering adversity through the lens of IFR—both in aviation and in life.

In his talk, he draws from his personal battle with cancer to explore spatial disorientation, leadership under pressure, and why trusting your instruments—your crew, your systems, your support—can be the difference between survival and catastrophe.

This session expands on the themes from his powerful blog and his upcoming book releasing later this year, offering an unfiltered look at resilience, identity, and recalibrating when the original flight plan no longer applies.

Beyond The Sirens will be providing specialized training for the Mebane Pediatric Dentistry team, covering essential life-saving and safety skills:

• Basic Life Support (BLS): High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, use of AEDs, and team-based resuscitation skills.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Recognition and management of pediatric emergencies, including respiratory distress, shock, and cardiac arrest.

• Bloodborne Pathogens: Practical steps for protecting, responding, cleaning, and reporting when exposed to blood or potentially infectious materials.

This on-site training ensures the entire dental team is prepared, certified, and confident in handling both everyday and emergency situations.

The APX Clinician Summit is an annual event designed for critical care transport and pre-hospital clinicians. The summit includes a morning lecture series, followed by lunch, and an afternoon of hands-on skills stations focused on critical care and pre-hospital procedures. Participants will have the opportunity to practice techniques such as chest tube insertion, SALAD intubation, and point-of-care ultrasound.

A cadaver lab offers advanced skill training, including chest tubes, intubations, lateral canthotomies, leg amputations, and pericardiocentesis. Exciting new additions will be announced, with plans for future events to feature fly-ins from local trauma teams, such as UNC, and collaborations with critical care and flight teams from various agencies.

Today we partnered with Mebane Recreation and Parks Department to host a Hands-Only CPR class at the Mebane Arts & Community Center specifically for veterans and seniors. This class focused on helping our community feel more confident responding to emergency situations—and we’re so grateful for everyone who joined us.

It’s one of our first community events here in Mebane, NC for Beyond The Sirens, and we’re thankful for the warm welcome. This class was held in memory of Joel Bruce Snellgrove Jr., and we’re proud to honor him through this work.

What an incredible class with The Center at The Center of Anna Maria Island!

We had an absolute blast with this fun, energetic group! The day was packed with engaging scenarios, friendly competitions, and even a scavenger-style challenge where students navigated the center to locate AEDs.

Everyone brought their best energy and focus, and the feedback we received was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better group — now they’re equipped and ready to be camp counselors with real-life skills that matter.
